There is nothing quite like cracking open a fresh estate sale lot and discovering what treasures are hiding inside — signed beauties, mystery pieces, and everything in between.
The Thrill of the Haul
There is nothing quite like cracking open a fresh estate sale lot and not knowing what you are going to find. That is honestly one of my favorite parts of this whole adventure. Nashville — Music City USA — has some of the most incredible estate sales around, and every lot I bring home feels like its own little treasure hunt.
This particular lot is a perfect example of why I love what I do. A wonderful mix of signed and unsigned pieces, each one waiting to tell its story.
The Joy of Researching What You Find
Half the fun of buying a jewelry lot is the research. You spread everything out on a clean cloth, pick up each piece, and start asking questions. Is there a signature on the clasp? What era does the style suggest? Is that rhodium plating or silver tone? Could that be a designer piece hiding in plain sight?
Signed pieces are always exciting to uncover. Flipping over a brooch or checking the back of a clasp and spotting a designer name is one of those small moments that makes the whole hunt worthwhile. Finding a signed piece in a lot always feels like a little victory.
And then there are the unsigned pieces — and honestly, those can be just as exciting. Sometimes an unsigned piece turns out to be a rare find from a smaller maker, or a beautifully crafted piece that simply never got the recognition it deserved. The mystery is part of the joy. A gorgeous rhinestone brooch does not need a famous name on the back to be worth treasuring.
Building a Collection, One Lot at a Time
Buying jewelry lots is one of the best ways to build a collection quickly and affordably. You might be looking for a specific style, a particular era, or just beautiful pieces to wear and enjoy. Lots give you variety, surprise, and the satisfaction of the hunt — all at once.
I source my lots from Nashville area estate sales, and every single one is a new adventure. Some days you find a quiet little brooch that turns out to be signed Weiss. Other days you pull out a chunky mod necklace that is pure 1970s joy. You just never know, and that is exactly the point.
